Before connecting to a production online Exchange server with DigiScope's Exchange database tools, you must create a DSAdmin{Version} account and then grant specific rights to the DSAdministrators group. The rights required for each DigiScope Exchange server administrator will differ depending upon the version of Exchange Server you are connecting to.

You can accomplish this by;

NOTE: For Exchange 2003, 2007, 2010 use the "DSAdminUtility.exe" and for Exchange 2013, 2016 & 2019 use the "DSAdminUtility 201x.exe"

NOTE: To support the varied permissions required to properly access different versions of Exchange the DSAdmin Setup creates a "DSAdmin{ExchangeVersion}" account i.e. if using Exchange 2010 an account named DSAdmin2010 would be used, for 2013 DSAdmin2013, for 2016 DSAdmin2016 etc.

TIP 1: If you are not logged into the DigiScope enabled machine with the DSAdmin{Version} account you will need to select "Using Alternate Profile" to create and then use the DSAdmin{Version} profile.

TIP 2: You can add other existing users into the DigiScope Administrators group and then use those accounts for connecting to a Production Exchange server. HOWEVER if you are using an account other then DSAdmin{Version} that fails to connect, try the DSAdmin{Version} and if it succeeds it means that the other account has conflicting rights which could have been added directly to that account or via group membership. If this occurs, it is not an issue we can help resolve, therefore please use the DSAdmin{Version} account for all connections.
