This can occur while "Creating Profiles to Connect to Production Sources" if the Exchange server has a self-signed certificate or if the certificate was issued by an untrusted certificate authority. There are two methods to resolve this issue as outlined below;
METHOD 1: REMOVE & IMPORT CERTIFICATE
- Click on Windows or Start > run, type in certmgr.msc and hit enter
- The "Certificates" dialog opens
- Navigate to "Trusted Root Certificate Authorities/Certificates" folder
- Locate the certificate that matches the name of your server, right-click and select Delete
- The "Certificates" warning appears
- Click "Yes" and the "Root Certificate Store" warning appears
- Click "Yes"
- Return to the Creating Profiles to Connect to Production Sources to complete the profile creation.
- During profile creation you will see dialogs similar to the ones shown below
- Click "Yes" on both dialogs
- The "Windows Security" dialog appears
- Enter the credentials for the DSAdmin{Version} or the account associated with the profile to successfully connect via SSL to your Exchange Server.
- Select "Remember my credentials"
- Click OK
- If the proper credentials were entered the profile will be created and the connection to the Production Source will complete
METHOD 2: CONNECT WITHOUT SSL
If your Exchange Server is configured to allow connection without SSL, you can complete by changing your authentication settings to NTLM and disabling Connect using SSL only
- Being Creating Profiles to Connect to Production Sources
- Within the Microsoft Exchange Proxy Settings dialog, change the "Proxy authentication settings" to "NTLM" as shown here
- Deselect the "Connect using SSL only" option as shown here
- Click OK
- The Windows Security dialog appears
- Enter the credentials for DSAdmin or the account associated with this profile.
- Select "Remember my credentials"
- Click OK
- If your environment allows NTLM authentication and the proper credentials were entered the profile will be created and the connection to the Production Source will complete
